Punjabi Heritage & Cultural Society in collaboration with Festival of India Association celebrated Diwali function with pomp and show at Ararat Hall in Mission Hills, CA on November 16, 2012. Raman Chadha – founding member – opened the program by thanking and welcoming the audience. Amit Anand and his orchestra group started the program with beautiful rendition of Bollywood songs.
Asha Sharma, a popular Master of Ceremonies, then took over the program command. She mesmerized the audience with her beautiful couplets, poems, and Shairs. She kept the audience engaged with her swift moving around with her mike. Her couplets and Punjabi poems reminisced the times when we were growing up in Punjab.
The program was organized by the founding members of the association – Raman Chadha, Ravi Grewal, Iqbal Samra, and Shamsher Sidhu. It was sponsored by Dr. Narinder Grewal, Dr. Baljinder Grewal, Mukhtiar Kamboj, Harjit Sidhu, Nachhatar Bhullar, and Jarnail Chinna.
Cultural program began with a dance on medley of Bollywood songs presented by two young girls from the group Bollywood Bombshellz. They were followed by sensational Punjabi Bhangra by the group called Bhangra Most Wanted. Bhangra was followed by the night’s main attraction Satwinder Lovely. She sang beautiful Punjabi songs. She was assisted by Amit Anand’s orchestra. People were so engaged in her sings that many couple joined her on the dancing floor. It was obvious from the dancing couple that they were having the night of fun. Satwinder herself joined them on the dancing floor while she was singing. Satwinder Lovely is a renowned Punjabi singer whose new album “My Dream” will be released soon. Night was full of fun and Masti. Sponsors were honored with plaques. The night ended with sumptuous food catered by Malkit Singh.
